Things to Do in Jim Corbett
There is no shortage of exciting activities in and around Jim Corbett — from thrilling jeep rides and overnight forest stays to temple visits, bird watching, and outdoor adventures.
Jeep Safari
The jeep safari is the most popular activity in Jim Corbett National Park. An open top gypsy takes you deep into zones like Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhela, Durga Devi, and Sitabani for close encounters with tigers, leopards, elephants, and deer in their natural habitat, guided by an experienced naturalist.
Canter Safari — Dhikala
For a larger group experience, the canter safari into the Dhikala Zone is the only way to access the core area of the park. It takes you through vast grasslands and along the Ramganga Reservoir, offering the highest chances of spotting tigers and elephants.
Elephant Safari
An elephant safari, particularly in the early morning hours in the Dhikala area, offers a unique and silent way to explore the tall grasslands where jeeps cannot reach, increasing your chances of spotting tigers resting in the grass.
Bird Watching
With over 600 bird species recorded, bird watching is one of the most rewarding activities here. Durga Devi Zone, the Ramganga Reservoir, and the Kosi River banks are the best spots to observe kingfishers, eagles, hornbills, and migratory birds.
Night Stay in the Forest
Jim Corbett National Park is the only national park in India that allows overnight stays inside the jungle. Staying at the Dhikala Forest Rest House or Bijrani FRH lets you experience the forest after dark and wake up to early morning wildlife activity.
Visit Jim Corbett Museum
A visit to the Jim Corbett Museum at Choti Haldwani is a wonderful activity for history lovers. It showcases the life, work, and conservation legacy of Jim Corbett through old photographs and personal belongings.
Nature Walks & Trekking
Guided nature walks, particularly in the Sitabani Forest Reserve, allow visitors to explore the forest on foot, spotting birds, deer, and smaller wildlife while enjoying the peaceful surroundings and visiting the ancient Sitabani Temple.
Visit Garjiya Devi Temple
Combining a visit to the Garjiya Devi Temple with your safari trip is a popular activity. Sitting on a rocky hillock in the Kosi River, it offers a peaceful spiritual experience along with beautiful river views.
Wildlife Photography
Jim Corbett National Park is a dream destination for wildlife and landscape photographers. From tigers and elephants to scenic grasslands, rivers, and birds, every corner of the park offers incredible photo opportunities, especially during the golden hours of morning and evening safaris.
River Rafting (Rishikesh)
For thrill seekers, river rafting in Rishikesh, located approximately 140 km from Jim Corbett National Park, is a must try adventure. With rapids ranging from gentle to challenging on the holy Ganga River, it offers an adrenaline filled experience amid stunning Himalayan scenery, making it a perfect adventure addition to your Corbett wildlife trip.
Outdoor Adventure Activities
For an adrenaline rush beyond the jungle, Devbhoomi Outdoor Adventure near Corbett offers zip-lining, rock climbing, river crossing, and rappelling, making it a fun addition for families and groups looking for excitement.
Explore Ramnagar Markets
After your safari, exploring the local markets of Ramnagar is a great way to relax. Enjoy local street food, shop for spices and handmade crafts, and experience the everyday life of the Kumaon hills.
